Case of the Ex 2

“Hey Beautiful” says Lamont as he flashes me a smiles. “Here are your IDs” I reply quickly trying to make this all go as fast as possible. I grab the handle to let myself out and right as I’m about to say “Okay Bye” he grabs my arm and says “Hold on a second there is something I want to ask you”. I lean back into the seat to hear what he’s about to say just hoping that whatever it is will not cause conflict.

“I’ll pay you $500 on top of the rent if you can kick your tenants out of your Bronx apartment so I can live there” says Lamont with a look on his face which to me came across like he just knew he would get his way. “I don’t think that’s a good idea” I reply with a serious face. He spent the next two minutes making all kinds of offers when I realized that I had to end this conversation fast and in the calmest ways possible. I took a deep breath and said “We have way too much drama between us for this to be a good idea for either one of us and honestly I’m not trying to have the added stress. I still hang out over there and do not want to worry about seeing you or whoever you’re with at the time around. Lastly, the tenants I sublease my old apartment to don’t bother me or I them. They always pay on time and never cause any problems. I don’t want to trade them for a potential drama filled situation so I am very sorry but my answer is no”. Lamont never looked so pissed off ever…his eyes opened wide as he started yelling about how he needs me and I’m not there for him. I opened the door and jumped out of the truck as he called me out of my name and swore never to ask me for anything again. I just walked away from the truck and back into the bar where I felt a lot safer. A loud screech was heard as Lamont sped off in the truck. About 5 minutes later my phone starts buzzing and when I look to see its Lamont sending me angry text messages. It was one text after another after another. OMG it was a non-stop assault on my Blackberry. I decided that if I was to have a good night I would have to put my phone on silent and ignore the rest of the night and so I did.

Right as I was putting my phone away in my clutch Mr. Harrison walks into the bar and straight up to me. “What are u doing here” I asked feeling like it was a pleasant but really unexpected occurrence. “Max called me and asked if I wanted to come and have some drinks with you guys so here I am” he replied with a calm smile on his face that always manages to sooth my spirit. I lean to the side so I can look at my brother who is sitting at the bar right behind Harrison, and I just wink at him and shoot him a smile. “I knew you would need that” said Max as he winked right back. We spent the next few hours having drinks while listening to music and playing. Harrison and I grabbed a cab back up to my apartment in Harlem after we all closed out the bar.

I  unlocked the door and walked inside Harrison walked in moments later closing the door behind him. We then got comfortable and just talked and talked about everything and nothing. The next thing I knew my alarm clock was going off and the sun was shining right in my eye. After a long stretch I suddenly got a feeling that the night ended with a lot more than just talking, but I couldn’t remember a thing. I just smiled while thinking to myself blame it on yet another crazy Thursday night!
