2011 Cannes Jury Announced

Famed international film event, Festival de Cannes, has released the list of high-profile jury members from all over the world. It had been announced earlier that legendary American actor, director, and producer Robert De Niro would preside over the eight-member team, which will include international stars from many different areas of the film world.

The jury includes American actress/screenwriter Uma Thurman, British actor Jude Law, Argentinean actress/producer Martina Gusman, Chinese producer Nansun Shi, Norwegian critic Linn Ullmann, French director Olivier Assayas, Chadian director Mahamat Saleh Haroun, and director/producer Johnny To of Hong Kong.

This years’ festival will take place from May 11 to May 22. Along with the jury panel for the main competition, French director Michel Gondry will head the jury for the short film competition and South Korean film director Bong Joon-ho will head the Camera d’Or jury, which selects the best film by a first-time filmmaker.

The festival will open with a new Woody Allen film called Midnight in Paris, and Italian film director Bernardo Bertolucci will be awarded the Honorary Palme d’Or at the opening ceremony. The main competition feature 19 films from countries all over the world including Spain, France, Israel, Turkey, Belgium, Finland, Japan, Australia, U.S., Italy, UK, Austria, and Denmark, which films directed by many famed directors such as Pedro Almodovar, Terrence Malick, and the Dardenne brothers.
