There is more to Kenya than just lions, tigers, and zebras… or is there? A very famous cartoon was created with scenery based upon Hell’s Gate National Park in Kenya. The production designers and story supervisors for The Lion King spent time there just to get it right.
The Lion King, one of Disney’s most successful animated films, has won a multitude of awards and is the highest grossing hand-drawn animated film in history! The movie’s producers aren’t stupid; people come from all over the world to check out Kenya’s national parks and reserves. They have some of the most impressive agriculture in the world.
With an economy that is constantly growing, Kenya is a prime place for both tourists and business travelers to visit. Since 2005, their annual growth rate has gone up by at least 1.2% each year, which doesn’t seem like much, but it’s steady! Their agricultural produces are big for business – both within their country and as exports: tea, coffee, sugarcane, corn, wheat, pineapples, rice, etc. A really big economic boom is also possibly forthcoming. Early this year, China’s CNOOC discovered significant quantities of natural gas in North Eastern Kenya. The discovery has investors hoping that oil will be forthcoming.
For those who are planning to visit Kenya or already do business there, here’s a friendly reminder: StanaCard’s rate to Kenya is a super low 13.98 cents per minute, and with our new call forwarding technology, it costs very little to call friends or relatives visiting there!
